About the Museum
The museum is operated by the Cape Coral Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) organization. Its purpose is to preserve the life and times of Cape Coral.
The public is welcome to tour the museum! We accept walk-in groups as well as scheduled groups. Members tour for free!
We are supported by tour fees, donations, membership dues, and a grant from the City of Cape Coral.
The museum collaborates with the Master Gardeners and the Garden Club of Cape Coral, who manage our beautiful rose garden and our Florida-friendly landscaping; and who offer special gardening tours and programs.
The museum is a repository for photos, maps, videos, books, artifacts and documents of all types related to the founding, development and growth of Cape Coral.
We accept donations of suitable items, which become the property of the museum; and which are then available for display. If you have items you are interested in donating, please contact the Museum!

Welcome to Our Newest Board Member!
The Cape Coral Historical Society is happy to announce that we have appointed a new Board Member! Gloria Raso Tate, resident of Cape Coral for 56 years, has been nominated and accepted into the Cape Coral Historical Society Board of Directors. Gloria and her Family arrived at Cape Coral on the same day that Hurricane Donna hit our shores. Gloria’s father Joe Raso worked for the Gulf American Land Corporation as the very 1st Bartender, then a real estate Top Closer and the 1st Cape Coral Golf and Tennis Club Champion. Her late Husband’s family came to Cape Coral in 1961, and his Brother had the first established medical practice in Cape Coral; Dr. Tate.
Gloria is a licensed Florida Realtor of 30 years, and has helped many families find their dream homes in Cape Coral. In her time in the community she has served for 10 years as an elected City Council Member for District 1, a past President of the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce, Past President Women’s Council of Realtors, currently serves on the Cape Coral Animal Shelter Board of Directors, and Chairs the Annual Toast to Hope fundraiser for the Tribute Gardens in Cape Coral.

The Cape Coral Historical Museum is staffed by Acting Executive Director Breanne Hastings. She received her B.A. in Anthropology from Florida Gulf Coast University. She handles the day to day operations and guest interaction at the Cape Coral Historical Museum.
