About the Museum
The museum is operated by the Cape Coral Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) organization. Its purpose is to preserve the life and times of Cape Coral.
The public is welcome to tour the museum! We accept walk-in groups as well as scheduled groups. Our Museum tour consists of a 20 minute video about the founding of Cape Coral followed by a guided tour through our campus. Members tour for free!
We are supported by tour fees, donations, membership dues, and a grant from the City of Cape Coral.
The museum collaborates with the Master Gardeners and the Garden Club of Cape Coral, who manage our beautiful rose garden and our Florida-friendly landscaping; and who offer special gardening tours and programs.
Board of Directors
The museum is governed by a board of citizen volunteers:
Wendy Schroder, President
Barbara Peet, Vice President
Doug Munro, Treasurer
Weezer Murphy, Secretary
Bonnie Potter, Past President
Toni Rae Hurley
In addition to its collections and exhibits, the museum presents programs featuring original residents, distinguished authors and experts on aspects of our history.
The speaker series is presented in the Cultural Park Theater next door to the museum.
While our mission is to preserve our history, we want to engage young people as never before. This year, we conducted youth summer camp activities and have plans to add future programs.
The museum is a repository for photos, maps, videos, books, artifacts and documents of all types related to the founding, development and growth of Cape Coral.
We accept donations of suitable items, which become the property of the museum; and which are then available for display. If you have items you are interested in donating, please contact the Museum!
